Back to School

Sawyer's fever went away and stayed away, and so he returned to school this afternoon. He had his third day in a row with no time-outs! Also, they started Penny Wars today so he went through his bank and separated all the pennies from the other change. He wants to win an ice cream party! Also, I have become "one of those moms"!! I volunteered to go on field trips today! I didn't know they would go on any, but I have to go because otherwise I won't get pictures of them! I'm really looking forward to that.

In any case, nothing too adventuresome today but he is better and back to being a crazy silly kid!

Getting better!

Well, we ended last week with two days of NO time-outs at preschool! I know he's going to have bad days, but you'd think after getting him to not hit etc. at home any more, he wouldn't do that at school. It's a big change going to P4J though and he's trying to figure out where he belongs amongst those 20-something children. He doesn't like a boy named Evan who he claims is naughty, and his favorite boy so far is Logan, and Alex is his favorite girl.

This past weekend, he was running high-ish fevers so I just told his teacher he won't be there today. His first sick day!! His fever finally broke this morning around 10am so it's just too soon to tell if it will come back. I did my exercises and showered this morning and laid back down with him and slept a couple hours; last night did not involve much sleep for either of us!

In any case, he should be able to go to school tomorrow if his fever stays away. Here's hoping!

Grumble, grumble..

Ugh! This kid!!!

So Miss Charlotte comes up to me as soon as I step foot inside to pick up Sawyer today. Maybe she wants to tell me that he improved Einstein's theory of relativity!

Nope.

She wants to tell me that Sawyer had a rough day today. He was hitting kids and had several time-outs, and he THREW A BOOK AT HER!

Oy. I think it is exhaustion. He plays hard at Michelles in the morning. Today they did a ton of projects since he was the only one there. Then he goes to school and gets all amped up again. I was kinda excited because he didn't cry when I left today, so I thought he'd have a good day. NOPE. When he gets home, he is zonked! He falls asleep in less than a minute! So I think he just is super tired. I think I will just start sharing 5 hour energy drinks with him at lunchtime.

January, February, March...

Sawyer just informed me that today (unlike Friday), he did not get in trouble or sit on the bench while everyone else played on the playground. Also, he got to be the Calendar Helper! I still don't know what he did other than count but it's a catchy title.
His adventures in preschool are going very well! I even got a little nap while he was gone today!
He painted an apple with his name on it today and Miss Charlotte said that Sawyer was quick to inform everyone that the stems needed to be brown. Mr. Know-It-All!

ZzzzZZZZzZZZzzzzzZZzzz

He slept from the time he got out of school until the time I was ready for bed at almost 10pm! We couldn't get the little bear to wake up at all!! It was insane. Today, it's gonna be different.

I hope.

Donations!

Okay, so maybe this isn't monumental. And it's not really about Sawyer specifically.. BUT... I get to bring recyclable items to his school today! There was a note in his box today that they would love donations of certain items. I actually have a few of these items. Since I didn't need to buy him school supplies, this is kind of exciting for me, silly as it is. So, when I return to get my little smartypants, I will be armed with a bag full of packing peanuts and some empty toilet paper rolls!

And when I picked up Mr. Awesome from preschool today, I discovered that he really IS a Transformer like he thinks he is! He transformed into Mr. Whinycrankybutt!  Amazing!!!

I am SO proud to announce...

My son is the smart one!!  Let me digress..

Every class has a unique group of students, but many of them are categorized or otherwise classified. These children are the jock, the class clown, the best dressed, the goof-off, the troublemaker, etc. Today when I dropped Sawyer off at preschool, his teacher pulled me aside and had an impromptu conference with me. She said "I just wanted to tell you that Sawyer is super-duper smart!!" (Well, duh!) She said that during class she asked the kids to count their numbers and she had to stop him when he was in the fifties because they were running out of time. I told her that's probably a good idea since he can count to pretty much any number. She said that she will be finding new ways to challenge him throughout the year so that he doesn't get bored. His daddy and I are super-duper proud that he is the Smart One!

Day Two

Sawyer is definitely excited to be going back again today! He is also disappointed that he doesn't have school the next three days, because of the weekend and the holiday. When he is older he will LOVE when that happens. We are both looking forward to going to Grandma and Papa's tomorrow afternoon for a cookout.
Hopefully the rain drizzles take a break long enough for his class to go out and play this afternoon. It's been trying to rain all morning!
He has a stuffy, sniffly nose again today and used its power to convince me that he needed "Old MacDonald's" for breakfast today. This child is hardly happier than when he has a sausage biscuit in his hand!
That's about all so far. Time for us both to get ready for preschool-Mommie has some shopping to do while he's in class!

First Day of School Pictures

First First Day of School

Yep, you read that right! It's Sawyer's very first First Day of School TODAY! He starts P4J (Preschool for Janesville) after lunch today. I thought I would start this blog on his behalf to commemorate that, as well as to chronicle his big day!

Here's what we have so far:
8:25am: Got out of bed and came to me with a stuffy nose, proclaiming that he is NOT sick, just his nose is. (Mommie has a cold, by the way)
8:35: Had mommie call daddy at work to let him know about his nose
8:45: Picked out what he wanted for breakfast-he decided to forgo brainfood and have a Cookies n Cream Poptart. That's my boy!
8:50: He is on the couch chowing on his Poptart while playing Beautiful Katamari on the xBox.
9:35: The most important thing to note is that not only is this the first day of school, but it just happens to be Sawyer's favorite day of the week-GARBAGE DAY!!!! Here comes the garbage truck now!
10:00: He's playing with his trains and with Hungry Hungry Hippos (Mommie just rescued a stuck marble!)
10:30: T-minus two hours until preschool!!
11:20: Outside taking first day of school portraits!!
12noon: Having something to eat before leaving for school (Cars Macaroni n Cheese and Capri Sun)
12:20: We left right on time! He unbuckled his seat belt, said "I want to tell you something Mommie" and proceeded to give me a kiss and hug, then got out of the car. He marched into the building and straight down to his classroom and said hello to his teacher! He found his nametag and hung up his backpack and went right over and found some kids to start to play with.
12:35: My face is a little wet :(  We are so proud of you, Sawyer!
3:30: Picked the guy up from school! He was wild and excited. He said that a little boy was hitting everyone with an elephant during snack time which was cheese crackers and milk. For a while, that's all I knew. He finally said a few more things like that he tried the monkey bars and he was nervous but was brave and did them anyhow. He also mentioned circle time which was a story today, and that he went potty and washed his hands. I'm sure there was more to his three hours, but those are his memorable moments!
